AI Tools in Language Learning and Teaching

How is everything going? I hope everything is on its way.
This week we learned use of AI tools in language learning and teaching and we were assigned to integrate AI tools to learning by using Magic School App. Let me explain about it!! Magic School is an AI-powered educational platform designed to support teachers and students through a variety of innovative tools. It offers features like character chatbots for interactive learning which I used, writing feedback tools -and also got help for improving my report- for improving students’ writing skills, and lesson planning aids for educators. By combining creativity with artificial intelligence, Magic School makes learning more engaging and helps teachers save time while enhancing the classroom experience.

We were given to options to go on. I picked the Task 1: Chat with a Historical Figure, Author, or Story Character. I decided to chat with Cleopatra and prepared ten questions. I didn’t include not only basic questions like “Where are you from?” but also risky questions like “How was your relationship with Caesar?”. Magic school was so succesful and efficient AI tool in answering the questions. Also It was suprising to see how an AI tool can make the content much more attracting. 
 
After summarizing the conversation into a 500-word report- a part of our assignment- , I used Magic School’s Writing Feedback Tool. The tool provided focused, constructive feedback on my use of formal language, clarity, and paragraph organization. I emphasized the changes I made thanks to the feedback in mu document also. You can visit how it helps to improve writing. One of the most helpful suggestions was to improve transitions between ideas for better flow. After making the suggested revisions, I noticed how much smoother and more professional my writing sounded. This reinforced the idea that AI tools can be highly effective in providing timely, personalized feedback something especially valuable in large classrooms where teachers may not always have the capacity to review every student’s work in depth.

As a future English teacher, I see great potential in using tools like these to support students. For example, I could have my students engage in character chats as a creative speaking or writing task. It would allow them to practice meaningful communication while also developing research and critical thinking skills. Additionally, AI feedback tools can foster student autonomy, helping learners revise their own work with more confidence.

The short of the long story, this experience showed me that when used thoughtfully, AI tools can enrich language learning and teaching. They can bring creativity into the classroom, support personalized feedback, and provide students with a new kind of interactive learning. As educators, our role is to guide students in using these tools responsibly and effectively. I look forward to experimenting more with AI in my future classes.
