Creating A Digital Story: A New ICT Task
Hellloooo everyoneeee!!!!
How are you all doing? I really hope you’re having a great day!
You know how it goes, another day, another assignment! And this time, things got a little more creative and exciting. We were assigned to create a digital story for our ICT & Material Design course!
If you’re not familiar with what digital storytelling is, don’t worry! I’ve got you! It’s basically creating short, meaningful videos that combine storytelling with visuals like images, video clips, music, text, and narration. You can use all kinds of digital tools to bring a story or idea to life in a creative way. Sounds fun, right?
We were given three different types of digital stories to choose from, and as a group, we decided to go with the “How-To” format. After some brainstorming, we realized that something very real and serious had recently happened: the earthquake in İstanbul. It affected us all, and we thought, “Why not create something helpful and informative based on that?” That’s how we came up with the idea:
“How to Prepare an Earthquake Emergency Bag.”
We wanted to raise awareness while also giving people practical information that could really make a difference in an emergency situation. I believe it’s something everyone should know.
Now, let’s talk about the process because honestly, it was such a great experience! We worked together as a team and shared all the responsibilities to make sure everything ran smoothly.
I was in charge of researching the essential items for the emergency bag and explaining their importance.
– Sıla did the narration and let me tell you, her voice brought the whole video to life!
– And Begüm worked on the editing, putting all the pieces together to create a final product we’re all super proud of.
We laughed a lot while filming, it may be hard to keep your focused and academic girl mood while you are close friends 😅, and learned so much throughout the process. It wasn’t just an assignment it was an experience that we’ll remember. And the best part? We created something that could genuinely help others.
If you’re curious and want to check out our work, here’s the link to our video:
We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Honestly, I’d totally recommend trying digital storytelling yourself. It’s creative, collaborative, and actually super fun plus, you learn a ton about both content creation and teamwork.
Thanks for reading, and see you in the next post!
Stay safe and stay prepared!
