Creating Podcast: Inspiring Idea to Improve the World

As part of our podcast assignment, we were asked to create a podcast. I picked the one 60-second episode inspired by BBC’s “60 Second Idea to Improve the World” series. The task was to come up with a simple but powerful idea that could make the world a better place to live in. For my podcast, I introduced the concept of a “Global Dress Code”

The idea explores how clothing could become more than fashion—it could become a tool for social change. Imagine a world where, for most days, everyone wears the same simple, brandless outfit. This would reduce judgment based on wealth, appearance, or class. It could help narrow the visual gap between rich and poor, reduce the pressure to follow trends, and even challenge the wasteful fast fashion industry. Of course, individuality still matters: one day a week is left open for everyone to freely express themselves through fashion.

The process of creating the podcast was exciting but also challenging. I struggled a bit with time management because expressing a meaningful idea in just 60 seconds was harder than I expected. Writing the script and choosing the right tone took time, but I enjoyed every step of it. Also the process of editing record was hard however it was fun and felt empowering once I finalized everything.

I would absolutely assign a similar task to my future students. It promotes creative thinking, speaking fluency, cultural awareness, and digital literacy. Plus, students get to feel like their voice matters—which is something every classroom needs more of.
